Every September 6, Don'tcha Know...
The Upper Peninsula of Michigan, often affectionately known as the U.P. is a region defined by its rugged natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and resilient spirit. Bordered by Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, and Lake Huron, the U.P. is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering pristine forests, towering waterfalls, and miles of scenic shoreline. Its history is deeply intertwined with mining, lumber, and Native American traditions, while its communities maintain a strong connection to their past. The U.P. is a place where nature's grandeur meets a unique blend of cultures, fostering a deep sense of pride and independence among its residents.
One Such Yooper is "Bugsy" Sailor
From Baraga, Michigan, bugsysailor is a Yooper Entrepreneur who originated the "906 Day" idea. As you can see from his blog post, the 'Official Unofficial Ambassador of the Upper Peninsula' couldn't contain his creative visual discovery that the date of September 6 or 9-6 looks pretty darn close to 906, where zero is the hero here in bringing it all together for the people of the U.P. eh!?
Justin has long been involved with several other Yooper related events and activities.

More 906 Day Resources For Yoopers
I, too, am one a those entrepreneurial Yoopers! I niched down to Marquette County and have been growing out SearchMarquette since 2012! Since then, I've been committed to creating a locally owned content archive library (L.O.C.A.L.) that we can use to not only post content and inform each other but to also combine commerce and community into a less corporate virtual footprint; an economic hub (club?), if you will, that contains relevant high value entertaining and informative content created and posted by locals like YOU! The following resources are part of SearchMarquette and can be used to create local value when you shop online using our links or book travel with one of our tools. It's an affiliate referral process that has been integrated into the features of this site overall. Please see more info about SearchMarquette in the related posts linked below or use the search box!
